
Cakes by Babbs is a local bakery that offers Cakes and desserts of all sizes to satisfy your sweet tooth. Our goal is to provide you with sweets that are made to order, from scratch, and to our best ability.
We are a husband and wife baking duo; between the two of us we have been in the food industry for over 35 years (both savory & sweet) .
At this time we do not have a retail location but are using the commercial kitchen at Spire 29 in Gorham, Maine to bake our sweets. All of our sweets are available by delivery or pickup by appointment.

Charles and Barbara
Thanks for stopping by our page and checking out what we are up to. We are a husband and wife baking duo. I (Barbara) am the cake baker, decorator and overall sweet lady. If you have a sweet tooth I am the one you need to talk to! My husband Charles has way to many job descriptions to list but his major one is the talker, and my backbone. If you hire us for your event you will definitely have the pleasure of working with both of us : )

- Everyone calls me Babbs : )
- Born in Quincy, Massachusetts and raised in Bath, Maine ~ I may not be a Maine Native but I am in my heart after living a breathing Maine since I was 5 years old
- Received an AOS in Baking and Pastry and a BA in Hospitality and Restaurant Management
from the New England Culinary Institute
- I can be a perfectionist
- I absolutely love White Chocolate Satin Mocha Coffees from Coffee by Design (They are the best)
- I love cakes with color but clean and classic
- And I am a little obsessed with cupcakes (just ask my husband, I squeal with delight whenever I see something with cupcakes on it)
- Outside of Cakes by Babbs, I have worked as (but not limited to) the Production Manager at Two Fat Cats Bakery and as a Pastry Cook at Fore Street Restaurant
~Charles~
- Born and Raised in Maine~ 4 Generations plus
- Received an AOS in Culinary Arts from the New England Culinary Institute
- Loves to cook
- Nascar is his favorite sport (Driver Tony Stewart #14 (retired), Kevin Harvick #4, and Chase Elliot #24)
- Has worked in several different restaurants including but not limited to Fore Street Restaurant in Portland, Maine (Sous Chef) and
the Royal River Grillhouse in Yarmouth, Maine (Executive Chef)
- Extra shots of espresso is the way he goes, no matter how many he can still sleep at night
~As a couple~
- Married on October 1, 2011 ~ Started building Cakes by Babbs a month later
- We are both family oriented (both of our families live within an hour of us)
- We love cooking together
